HOW IT WORKS AND POWERS THE UNITS - BASIC PRINCIPLE
EVD divides the voltage equally as its name suggests. Specifically, an AC is divided equally by an autotransformer, and this divided voltage is rectified using a rectifier element such as a bridge diode to drive an LED.
KEY POINTS AND DIFFERENCES OF CONVENTIONAL LED AND EVD-LED
DIFFERENCE WITH REGULAR POWER SUPPLY:
The EVD power supply is completely different from the regular power supply in principle. Therefore, it is NOT a substitute for the regular power supply, and it IS suitable for use in environments where it is difficult to handle the regular power supply. The standard power supply for regular LED is taken from AC to DC through an oscillation circuit. Therefore, in addition to the control IC, special parts such as high frequency transformers, large capacity electrolytic capacitors using chemical reaction are used. Because of this, Deterioration is likely to occur due to the use of parts including electrolytic capacitors at high frequencies, and the LIFE becomes extremely short especially in high temperature and low temperature environments. In addition, irritating high frequency oscillation noise is also generated.
THE BAD NEWS IS... CONVERSION EFFICIENCY OF THE REGULAR LED POWER SUPPLY UNIT IS ONLY AROUND 90%.
NOW COMES THE GOOD NEWS!
The EVD power supply has a very simple configuration of only a low frequency transformer and a bridge diode, so it can be used over a wide temperature range and has an extremely long life.
As mentioned, the heat generation is small and the conversion efficiency exceeds 99%!
SO,...WHY CHANGE OVER TO EVD TECHNOLOGY?
A number of different kinds of conventional LED products are now being used in a wide range of fields, making use of their compact size and efficiency. HOWEVER, the biggest drawback of regular LED lighting systems until now has been in its power supply unit.
Regular LED power supplies require constant current circuits . Many of them are regulator-type power supplies and use many electronic components. The conversion efficiency of these power supplies is around 80 to 90%, with more than 10% of energy lost.
Because these power supplies use high–capacity electrolytic capacitors, they are also susceptible to high and low temperature conditions, therefore, the major problem has been that their electrical circuitry stops working long before the service life of the LED elements themselves.
